Divers' Lodge Hurghada: is the dive centre at the Hilton still open?

Divers' Lodge's status is unclear. Its website no longer works, yet Egypt's official dive register still lists it at the Hilton Hurghada Resort. Contact the hotel before you plan around it, or book a comparable dive day instead.

Divers' Lodge in Hurghada is a name with a long history and, today, no working website. We cannot tell you whether the centre at the Hilton Hurghada Resort still trades under this name, so our advice is plain: ask the hotel before you go and do not pay anyone online in its name. The bookable trips on this page are comparable intro-dive and dive-boat days from other companies, not Divers' Lodge's own.

Pros

  • Still listed by the official licensing body for dive centres
  • A long-established name in Hurghada diving, by its own old account
  • The hotel can confirm on the spot whether the centre is running

Cons

  • No working website since September 2024
  • No current prices, programmes or terms
  • Several unrelated businesses use similar names
  • Old prices circulating online are years out of date

Is Divers' Lodge Hurghada still open?

What can be established:

  • The website worked until at least August 2024. From September 2024 the domain showed a hosting "suspended" page, later a shop template unrelated to diving, and now a parking page. The no-hyphen version of the name is a domain for sale. Neither address is a source of information any more, so we do not link them.
  • The Chamber of Diving and Water Sports (CDWS), Egypt's licensing body for dive and snorkel centres, still lists "Divers Lodge" in Hurghada at the Hilton Hurghada Resort. You can check the directory yourself at https://www.cdws.travel/members/diving-centers.
  • No current offer is published anywhere we could find: no programme, no prices, no booking terms.

So the honest status is "unclear". A dive centre can carry on trading with a dead website, or the listing can outlive the business. Whether the centre at the Hilton still trades as Divers' Lodge is something only the hotel or the centre can confirm. If you are staying at the Hilton Hurghada Resort, walk down and ask. If you are not, contact the hotel before you build a day around it.

Who Divers' Lodge was

Its old website said Divers' Lodge was established in 1993. It offered recreational and technical diving, including courses with technical-diving agencies and rebreather training, plus snorkeling and safaris. Older diver directories place it at different Hurghada hotels over the years, so a review you find online may describe an earlier base.

The last price list on its site is years old. Those figures are no guide to anything today and we do not repeat them. Hurghada dive centres now typically add a daily reef or permit tax of €5–7 on top of their prices.

Divers' Lodge, Divers Lodge or something else?

The name is easy to confuse, and some of the look-alikes are risky:

  • A dive centre at the Divers Lodge Hotel in Marsa Alam, about 250 km south, is a different business.
  • Dahab Divers Lodge Tours is in Dahab, in Sinai.
  • diveandlodge.com is on the CDWS black list of operators that are not working legally. Do not book through it.
  • A "dive hostel", "dive inn" or "diving hotel" in Hurghada is a different kind of business. Divers' Lodge was a dive centre based in a hotel, not a hotel of its own.

If you want a hotel with a dive centre, the CDWS directory helps: it lists each member centre with its town and hotel, so you can check the centre at your hotel before you arrive. The black list is at https://www.cdws.travel/blacklist.

What to book instead of Divers' Lodge

Without a working Divers' Lodge, the practical question is what to book for a first dive or a dive day from Hurghada. The listings below are comparable trips from other companies; the listings do not name the boat company.

The most-reviewed intro-dive day in this list is also sold on Headout:

Price check An intro dive for beginners from a boat on more than one platform Difference: $14
PlatformListingRatingPriceWhere
Headout Red Sea Scuba Diving for Beginners With Round-Trip Transfers and Lunch · Full day 4.6 (218) $38 Lowest See on Headout
GetYourGuide Intro Diving Beginner and Discover Red Sea Underwater · Full day 4.8 (1,485) $52 See on GetYourGuide

Lowest price per person in US dollars, checked on 20 October 2026. Boat, island, lunch, pick-up area and what is included differ between listings: open each one before you pay.

Headout is cheaper today, and its beginner dive day includes return transfers and lunch. The two may not be the same boat or the same programme, so compare what each includes. With any try dive from a boat, ask whether it is one to one. Egypt's rules require one instructor per intro diver from a boat, and some cheap "intro dives" on snorkel trips last only 10–15 minutes, a taster rather than a dive. Our snorkeling plus diving page explains the rules and the Discover Scuba age limits.

Is diving in Egypt safe? How to check a centre

Diving from Hurghada is an organised, licensed activity, but the UK Foreign Office warns that safety standards of Red Sea diving operators and boats vary considerably (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/egypt/safety-and-security). A few checks take minutes and matter more than a glossy website:

Checking a Hurghada dive centre

  1. Find the centre, or its company name, in the CDWS member directory, with the hotel it is based at.
  2. Make sure neither the centre nor the website you are booking through is on the CDWS black list.
  3. Before any dive, expect to sign a medical questionnaire. Asthma, heart conditions, recent surgery or pregnancy need a doctor's sign-off.
  4. Ask for a safety briefing before departure, and for a one-to-one instructor on any try dive from a boat.
  5. Check that your travel insurance covers diving and sea rescue, and do not fly within 12 hours of one dive or 18 hours of several.

The nearest hyperbaric chamber for divers is at El Gouna Hospital, north of Hurghada.

Divers Lodge Hurghada reviews: what to check

We have no current review themes to report, and we do not quote reviews. Much of what you find about Divers' Lodge online is older than the website's closure and may describe a former base. If you find the centre trading at the Hilton, read only recent reviews before you book.
