This site exists for one kind of reader: someone on a beach holiday in Hurghada, or about to fly there, who wants one or two good days on the water and does not want to waste them. We try to answer the questions a booking page leaves out — how long you really get on the beach, what you pay in cash at the marina, whether a "6 islands" trip visits six islands, and what to do when the north wind closes the port.
What we cover
The guides cover boat days to the Giftun islands and their beaches (Orange Bay, Paradise and Mahmya), Dolphin House, Magawish and the smaller islands, Utopia near Soma Bay, yachts, speedboats, sea taxis and private boats, half-day and sunset trips, semi-submarines, try dives and water sports, days out with children, snorkeling from the beach at the resorts from El Gouna to Safaga, and when to go. Start with the Hurghada snorkeling guide or browse all boat trips.
We also review named companies: boat operators, attractions, dive centres, local agencies and hotel excursion desks. The operator reviews say what each company really is, what it sells and how to book it or a comparable trip.
Who we are not
We are not the official site of any boat operator, dive centre, beach club, hotel, the Red Sea protectorates or any Egyptian authority. No operator, beach or hotel owns, runs or pays for this site. When we name a company, it is because travellers book it or confuse it with another, not because it is a partner of ours.
How we work
- Facts. We check facts against official and operator sources, Egyptian press and official travel advice, such as the UK Foreign Office's advice for Egypt. Fees, port rules and operators change often in Egypt, so we date our pages and update them when something changes.
- Prices. Platform prices are read from GetYourGuide, Headout and Tiqets and shown as "from" prices with the date they were checked. Direct prices quoted in the text come from the operator's own site. Prices change, so the price you see when you book is the one that counts.
- Reviews. We do not accept payment for reviews, and no company can buy a better score. The editorial scores on our review pages are our own judgement of the facts — boats, the day as run, value, transparency about extras, booking ease and safety information — not an average of customer ratings.
- Wildlife. We never promise dolphins or turtles. Where a product involves captive animals, we say so plainly.
- Languages. Every guide is written in English first and then translated. Operator reviews and the company pages stay in English.
How the site earns money
The site is free to read. It earns affiliate commission when you book through some of our links: GetYourGuide (through its partner programme), Headout and Tiqets (through their affiliate programmes). Those links are marked as sponsored and go straight to the partner's own page.
The price is the same for you whether you book through our link or go to the platform directly. Commission never decides what we write: if a trip has a catch, we say so, and if booking direct with an operator is cheaper, we say that too. When you book, your contract is with the platform and the local boat company, not with us. The disclaimer explains this in more detail, and GetYourGuide vs Headout explains how the platforms work.
Corrections and feedback
If you spot an error — a price that has changed, a beach that has closed, a boat that no longer runs — please email info@hurghadasnorkeling.guide. We check every report and correct the page when the facts support it. Our contact page says what we can and cannot help with.
