Blue Paradise Diving Centre Hurghada: review of its snorkel days and try dives

Blue Paradise is a small, multilingual dive centre on Hurghada's Corniche that also takes snorkelers out on its dive boat. Expect a calmer boat and a personal instructor for a try dive, but a real snorkel-day cost of about €42–45 once lunch and the daily tax are added.

Blue Paradise diving in Hurghada is a sensible choice for a quieter boat day with a dive centre, as long as you go in knowing that the advertised price is not the price you pay on the day. It sells directly through its own site, not through GetYourGuide or Headout, so the bookable trips on this page are comparable dive-boat days, not Blue Paradise's own.

Who Blue Paradise is

Blue Paradise Diving Center says it was established in 1999. It sits on El Korneesh, the Corniche road along central Hurghada, and its website runs in English, German, Dutch, French and Russian, and its .be address suggests a Belgian and Dutch-speaking clientele. The centre sells PADI and SSI courses, dive days, try dives and snorkeling trips. Ownership is not stated on the site.

The boat its guests write about is the Basyl, a 27 m day boat. The centre describes its groups as at most six divers per guide and four students per instructor; those figures are its own, so ask on the day how many people are on board.

One name check, because Hurghada is full of "Paradise": Blue Paradise has nothing to do with Paradise Island, the beach on Giftun, or with the seller that trades as Paradise Island Hurghada.

What Blue Paradise sells: snorkel days and try dives

The snorkel day runs on the dive boat, alongside the divers. The published timetable:

A Blue Paradise snorkel day
  1. Hotel pick-upWindow 07:30–08:15; Hurghada, Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna

  2. Boat leavesSometimes 09:00

  3. First reefAfter 45–90 minutes' sailing, depending on the site

  4. Lunch on boardUntil about 13:00; €6 extra

  5. Second reef

  6. Back at the marina16:00–16:30, after about 1.5 hours' sailing

That is a full day with long crossings, built around two reef stops rather than a beach. It suits snorkelers who want reef time rather than a beach club; if you want sand and bean bags, an Orange Bay day is the better buy.

The try dive, which the centre calls "Discover The Red Sea", is a full boat day with a personal instructor, limited to 5 m. A second dive in the afternoon costs €29 extra. From a boat, Egypt's diving rules require one instructor per intro diver anyway, so a one-to-one try dive is the legal standard, not a luxury. Blue Paradise's 5 m limit is shallower than the 12 m a PADI Discover Scuba open-water dive allows, which is reassuring for nervous first-timers.

Certified divers can book dive days of two boat dives without equipment, from €68 online for one day, with longer packages up to ten days.

Blue Paradise sells nothing on the booking platforms. The nearest bookable equivalent is a small yacht day with a choice of snorkeling or a one-to-one try dive, below. These are comparable trips from other companies; the listings do not name the boat company.

Blue Paradise prices: what a day really costs

Prices on the site include sales tax and are given as standard / online (online only for bookings made seven or more days ahead):

Item Standard Online
Snorkel day, adult €33 €30
Snorkel day, child 11–17 €25 €22
Snorkel day, child 1–10 €21 €17
Try dive (full day, 1 dive) €66 €60
Dive day (2 boat dives, no equipment) €72 €68

On top of that come the Environmental & Entertainment Tax of €6 per person per day, paid on the spot, lunch at €6, drinks at €1 each, and gear if you do not bring your own: mask, snorkel and fins €7, a shorty €6, a long wetsuit €8. The hotel-transfer surcharge depends on the distance from the marina.

So an adult snorkeler with lunch pays about €42–45 before gear, more than many shared snorkel yachts on GetYourGuide that include lunch, which start from about $24. The value is the small dive-centre boat and the reef-focused day, not the price. For the try dive, compare like with like: cheap platform "intro dives" can be a short taster, while Blue Paradise's is a full day with your own instructor. Our price guide puts the bands side by side.

Dive centres around Hurghada all add a daily tax under different names; Blue Paradise's €6 sits between Colona's €5 and James & Mac's €7:

Blue Paradise diving Hurghada reviews: what to check

We found no independent review themes we could rely on, and we do not repeat guest quotes from the centre's own homepage. Before you book, check recent reviews on a platform you trust and look for comments on four things: how many snorkelers were on the boat, whether a guide swam with the snorkelers, how the pick-up ran from your resort, and whether the cash extras matched the price list.

How to book Blue Paradise

Booking Blue Paradise without surprises

  1. Book on blueparadise.be at least seven days ahead to get the online price.
  2. Pay the 25 % deposit online; the balance is due in cash on board on the first day, in euros, pounds or dollars. Cards cost 3 % extra.
  3. Budget cash for the €6 tax, €6 lunch, drinks and any gear rental.
  4. Ask for the centre's CDWS membership and how many snorkelers and guides will be on the boat.
  5. Note the cancellation rule: more than 48 hours before, a €25 fee per person; inside 48 hours or no-show, no refund.

That last rule is the biggest difference from the platforms. On GetYourGuide the default is free cancellation up to 24 hours before unless the listing says otherwise, and a weather cancellation by the supplier gets you a new date or a full refund. If the port is closed, ask Blue Paradise in writing what happens to your deposit.

The licensing body, the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports (CDWS), publishes its member directory at https://www.cdws.travel/members/diving-centers and a black list of illegal operators at https://www.cdws.travel/blacklist. We could not find Blue Paradise under this name, its e-mail domain or its street; it may be registered under a company name, as some centres are, so simply ask.
